Support for Habitat Protection
Protecting habitat is one of the most important ways we can safeguard the future of koalas. At Koala Rescue Redlands & Surrounds Inc., we work with the community, councils, and conservation partners to ensure koalas have safe spaces to live, move, and thrive.
Why Habitat Matters
Koalas rely on healthy eucalyptus forests and connected tree corridors for food, shelter, and movement. When habitat is destroyed or fragmented, koalas are forced to travel on the ground where they are at greater risk of being hit by cars, attacked by dogs, or becoming stressed and sick.
Our Work in Habitat Protection
We support habitat protection through:
Tree Planting and Restoration – Encouraging and participating in local planting projects to expand koala food trees and safe corridors.
Community Awareness – Educating landowners and residents on how to make backyards more koala-friendly.
Partnerships – Working with councils, conservation groups, and businesses to advocate for stronger protections and practical conservation projects.
Monitoring and Reporting – Recording koala sightings and habitat changes to build a clearer picture of local populations and threats.
How You Can Help
Everyone has a role in protecting koala habitat. You can:
Plant native, koala-friendly trees on your property.
Support reforestation and landcare projects in your local area.
Keep your yard safe by allowing koalas to pass through fences and avoiding harmful chemicals.
Report habitat destruction to the relevant authorities.
