Sick or Injured Koala

If you see a sick, injured, or displaced koala, please act immediately. Fast reporting gives us the best chance of saving a life.

Call Our 24/7 Rescue Hotline

0435 504 222

This is the fastest and safest way to get help. Please do not send messages through social media, as they may not be seen in time.

What To Do While Help Arrives

  • Stay with the koala if it is safe to do so.

  • Keep dogs, people, and cars away.

  • Provide an exact location – a street address, GPS pin, or nearby landmark.

  • Describe what you see – behaviour, injuries, or unusual signs (such as red eyes, discharge, or weakness).

  • Do not attempt to capture or handle the koala yourself.

Why We Ask You To Call

Koalas are protected wildlife and require specialist handling. Social media messages or texts can be missed, but a call to the hotline connects you immediately to a trained volunteer. This allows us to dispatch a rescuer as quickly as possible.

Safety First

For your safety and the koala’s:

  • Never try to chase or climb after a koala.

  • Do not offer food or water.

  • Keep yourself and others at a safe distance until trained rescuers arrive.

Not Urgent? Log a Sighting

If the koala appears healthy but is in an unusual spot (such as crossing a road, in a low tree, or resting in a yard), you can log a sighting. This helps us track koala movements and respond if needed.

Every call matters. Together, we can rescue, rehabilitate, and protect the koalas of Redlands.
